Well, that was stupid.

Some words of advice when it comes to getting your hair done: DON'T even think about coloring it yourself days after you paid someone to do it. I have been so good about leaving my hair to the professionals after I decided to grow it out and go blonde which has been for the past three and a half years but for some reason I thought I should try my hand at it again. See the thing is I'm really funny about my hair color, I'm never really happy with the the shade of blonde and I've had a hard time finding a stylist who understands my look. I tried out a new girl at a beautiful salon downtown Portland and she did such a knock out job to my hair but in an urge of impulse I stopped by Sally's Beauty Supply for a bottle of platinum toner to throw over my freshly colored locks. Dummy! My hair turned taupe. TAUPE! I freaked out bad. I mean, I had worked so hard over the past few years to get it to a really light color and to an actual healthy state and there I go and mess it all up. Damn! So last weekend with instructions from my patient stylist I washed the hell out of my hair with dish soap and by Tuesday I made a dash stop to the salon to have her fix it. You guys, in a matter of an hour she was able to get my hair practically back to it's pretty blonde state. It's definitely a little darker then what it was before but I frankly I don't even mind because it seriously beats having dirt colored hair. So don't be so impulsive with your hair color because it might just bite you in the ass!
That's it, just a post about my silly hair :)

DIY travel memories

You got any big traveling plans for this summer? We are soon to be headed on a very exciting and possibly crazy road trip and I wanted a cool way to document our adventures when we get home. Miles has traveled quite a bit going back and forth to Southern California and Nevada to visit our family but we have yet to travel this long by car and to so many amazing states! Here are a few ways to document your summer trips with fun diy projects but trust me after a three week trip away from home the last thing I'll probably want to do is break out the scissors and glue to craft but give yourself a good week to start recapping your adventures :)

Instead of the task of ominous scrap booking, create a quick keepsake memory of travel by making a flip book. Great for maps, restaurants, etc.

There's no particular reason for this photo other then Miles being real cute in dad's "man hall".  Everyone, have a killer holiday weekend (that's almost over, eeep!) and if you're fortunate to have sun then soak it up for us rainy folks!

17 months old!

My little pal turned 17 months old last week which means he's less then a month away from being a year and a half. Crazy! It's funny how its was a huge countdown to the day he turned a year old and ever since then the months have been flying by. His age right now is so amazing and frightening all at the same time. I love how well we communicate with each other lately but I know not being able to vocalize his feelings has been the root of most frustrations. He doesn't know too many words yet but points and gestures to everything he needs which is extremely helpful for the both of us. He understands my commands and has become a really great helper too. Miles feeds the cats every morning and it is the cutest thing to watch! He scoops the cat food into a cup, walks from the kitchen down a step into our mud room, dumps the food into their bowl and drops the cup back into the bag. I'm so proud, seriously! Last month we were dealing with throwing and hitting which was definitely something we have worked hard to consistently stop. He still throws tantrums but I think he's at the age where fits are common and I'm learning ways to calm him down versus becoming upset. Being outdoors helps a lot with getting some of that crazy energy out so I'm really looking forward to summer. I'm also really excited for an upcoming road trip we are taking with my mom, sister and her three girls. I can't wait to see him bond with his cousins and learn a thing or two from them on the road. When we get back from our trip I have plans to add a toddler bed in his room and make it a better play area for him. I'm also going to start weening him from nursing which I know will be a effing doozy but I'm looking forward to sleeping better through the night without breastfeeding. All in all, 17 months with this kiddo in our lives has been pretty damn amazing and it's been incredible watching this little boy grow! Miles has such a huge heart and I just know he's going to grow up to be a really special person.

Next month Miles and I are going on a cross country road trip with my family so I've been on the hunt for new merchandise to fill up my mall space while I'm gone. Miles style

A few days ago we walked down to a park we've never been to in our neighborhood. Unfortunately, everything was a little big big for him but we did play on the swings and goof around for a while. We're so lucky to have so many awesome parks and playgrounds close to our home. Summertime is going to rule so hard!
This is what my little pal wore:
Prefresh Tee (which we LOVE!)
Vest redesigned by Camp Wolf (coming soon!!)
Neon Old Navy skinnies

Sun, sun, sun

Portland has been having the best weather lately (besides the two days of rain to just remind us of where we live). Cool mornings, hot afternoons and dreamy evenings means eating dinner outside and running around like wild animals.

My Mother's Day

Papa took the day off so we hung around the house, walked to the park, took fun photo booth pictures, drank wine and ate pizza. Sometimes it's the little things that make the most impact. I woke up wanting to be swooped off me feet with flowers and an extra special breakfast... and quickly learned that it wasn't going to happen today. Steve has been in a funky whirlwind with working so much and our money has been really tight right now for an upcoming road trip AND not to mention that Steve isn't so great in the gift giving department SO I pretty much knew nothing fancy would happen like that. I was pretty bummed this morning feeling neglected but I really had to stand back and tell myself to snap the hell out of it! My awesome husband took the day off to be with us and we had the whole day to do whatever we wanted with the number one person who made us parents and that's pretty damn cool if you ask me. So with a little attitude change and a sweet family, my day ended up being pretty freaking awesome!
But you better believe I want breakfast made for me next weekend :)

Mama

My mom is my hero and I am forever grateful to have such a strong, beautiful woman as my mother. My whole life she has instilled tools in me to become a better person and even though I'm still on my journey I can honestly say that I am a strong and beautiful woman because of her.
We love you so much, mama! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

So this is what I've been up to...

These are a few vests I patched for my girlfriend's kiddos and really the first of Camp Wolf out there. I've been working away on more jackets and vests but I think I'll wait to reveal them once my shop is up and running. It's pretty exciting working late into the wee hours on something that you earnestly believe in even if you are tired as hell in the morning. I'm really proud of the work I'm doing to produce a beautiful little online store with cool stuff for cool kids. I'm really EXCITED, can you tell!?

Welcome sponsor!

Our wonderful sponsor The Printed Palette sent Miles this killer Life Life Anchored baseball tee! These guys are great! Their from my hometown of San Diego and know how to have fun with clothes for you and your kiddos.

Mom's rule!

If you want a fun, unique way to share your photos and memories with the mamas in your life then check out what I made my mom and sister for last year's Mother's Day. Because I'm a little busier then usual right now I decided to keep my gifts simple and enlist the help of my little pal to make cards for four very important woman in our lives. Miles had so much fun painting a large sheet of paper that I later traced his hand print on, cut out and wrote a little message of love on the back. P.S. this was Miles' very first time painting so it made the project extra awesome! Have any special plans for your family this Mother's Day?

Camp Wolf

From here on out I'll be working on my children's clothing and accessories line. It will be small, it will take time, but most importantly it will be mine. Parting ways with my work partner last month was really shitty to say the least but it forced me to take a new direction with the brand and I honestly couldn't be happier having full control. I'm ready to make some killer gear for your kiddos!
Camp Wolf will be released fall 2013.

Technical difficulties... boo!

Well, shoot! For some reason I can't upload photos so please excuse this break until I get stuff figured out around here! Hope you all are doing great!
