11 Random Things

1. I have no clue how to exercise! Not one damn clue. I somehow talked my way out of any physical sport that was mandatory in school and I way that girl dragged to the gym by her friends who smoked cigarettes on the outside treadmill... ya pretty pathetic but its just not my thing. After Miles was born my poor body needs some TLC so this year I may need to buck up and actually do something about it. But in all honesty I'm hoping it magically disappears tomorrow.

2. Five years ago I impulsively became engaged to a man I knew for nearly two months. Seriously. Four days before the wedding he left me. Seriously!! It was really painful and confusing but if he hadn't realized that we were being crazy I would have never moved to Portland, met Steve or had our son.

3. Ever since I was a wee one I would leave my mom love notes by her door or in her purse. Even now when she visits I always make sure to sneak a note or two in her bag reminding her how great she is. Like a good mama she keeps them all.

4. Our baby boy, Miles Waylon Wolf, is named after three righteous musicians. Miles Davis, Waylon Jennings and Howlin' Wolf.

5. I use to be really embarrassed of thrift stores. When I was in grade school I felt humiliated and poor going into a thrift shop with my mom. Shopping there symbolized not being able to afford new things which when your young means more then it really should. Im not sure when it changed for me but buying second hand is pretty much the only way I shop now and in fact thats how Ive learned to make a living. Not to mention I find it thrilling to thrift!

6. Steve is 15 years older then me.

7. I really want to take sewing lessons this year. I would love to be able to make things for Miles and alter my own clothes. I actually really like hand sewing but using a sewing machine would make things much easier and a lot less time consuming.

8. I love love love June Carter Cash's voice. This is one of my most favorite songs.

9. It drives me insane how clueless Steve is on the computer. Ohh I love him dearly but Im pretty sure Miles can type faster then him. For reals.

10. I would love for my beau to build us a green house this summer for our backyard. He has a major green thumb and its the sweetest thing to watch him tend to his plants. We have a great size yard and Id love to spend some time in it this spring to make it look as dreamy as this.

11. I'm a lousy bike rider, aliens freak me out, I get major hair envy and I don't know how to whistle.

Night. I'm most creative and motivated at night. Also baby M sleeps till 9 or 10 every morning so we take our time waking up.

Well we are in the works to open a vintage mall here in Portland by next year so that will definitely be up and running, have a happy and healthy family and more road trips.

We don't watch cable so I'm out of the loop with reality shows but I do love American Pickers. Those guys have my dream job.

Look how sweet these elbow patches look on my little boos sweaters. Want to make this for your kiddos clothes? Easy schmeezy my friends! Well in all honesty when you have a fussy hungry baby by your side all day it may take a little longer then expected but so worth the cuteness.

1. Draw oval shapes on your paper to make a stencil.

2. If your going to add patches to different sized shirts be sure to make a variety of ovals.

3. Trace and cut out your stencil on any choice fabric.

4. Mark where your babes elbows are for accurate placing and then start your sewing.

5. You can use a sewing machine but I prefer a hand sewn look.

6. Fold the arms over to check for symmetry. Don't sweat it if their a little crooked.

7. Try an unexpected print for your next patch.

8. All finished! Pretty damn adorable right?

I bought these old wooden milk crates from Craigslist weeks ago to display my boots and bags at the mall space. I ended up bringing the extra ones home that we used as end tables next to the couch and beside the rocking chair. Their a really rad magazine and record holder and with the added shelf we can store smaller books or knick knacks. With one left over I gave it to papa and he nailed it to the wall and used it as a painting easel (brilliant!). These crates were an awesome find and make for cool looking affordable side tables.

Monday Mornings

Hi! How was your weekend? Ours was pretty lazy to tell you the truth. Our dear friends Cheyenne and Valerie found out on Friday that they are having a boy! We are over the moon and cant wait for Miles to have a best bud. Papa and the soon to be papa went out for celebratory drinks that evening and ended up hurting pretty bad the next morning. My poor sweetheart was so damn hungover Saturday that he ended up in bed most of the day and all our plans went out the window. I'm happy to report that Miles had impeccable timing when it came to Steve changing his diapers that day. The perks of not drinking right now is no hangover. Win! Sunday we made french toast, did a little thrifting, gave M a nice warm bath, Steve went skateboarding and I watched Funny Face then we met up with our expecting friends for pizza. Today papa takes a big test to join the electrical union and I might just get to a few craft projects Ive been putting off. Fingers crossed for Steve to do well on his test!

My oh my, this little peach turned two months old yesterday! Its funny being a new mama because my brain is thinking that he is still so itty bitty but my heart is sad that these past two months flew by and the first year will most likely follow with speed! The pediatrician check up went great minus a few shots in the leg where he let out big crocodile tears and then took a long nap. Dr. Janie took his weight and measurements and after looking at his growth chart assured me that he is a strong and healthy baby. Go Miles!

Once I had my baby babe and put my job on pause I realized that Miles and I have waaay to much time on our hands now. We sing and dance to records, go for ice cream walks, thrift shop, rearrange our home and a little in between. During the winter time our house plants need a little extra TLC so I move most of them to bright window sills around the house for maximum love. We're pretty fortunate to have great big windows throughout our home but the living room is where most of our not so healthy plants end up going. After we took the Christmas tree down a while ago I wanted to move a few things around. I took out a chair that nobody sat on, moved around the plants and made a switch for the rocking chair which we use the hell out of. A small number of changes but I like it!

Since having Miles I haven't made any new pieces which is a bit disappointing but totally not realistic right now and sort of went on an Etsy hiatus. I love holidays and pretty much any excuse to make or find fun gifts for friends and family. However my darling Steve doesn't share my same enthusiasm. So over the past few years Ive learned to drop subtle hints to my sweet clueless friend to subconsciously remember what I want. Is this a jerky move? Heck no, I think he wants the help and in this case I really wanted my pretty vase.

But in all honesty HE is the BEST valentine I could ever want!

This morning I woke up to an impressively mushy hand made card, this AMAZING deer vase I saw months ago at an antique store (and flowers!) and delicious pastries from the bakery down the street. Well done my wonderful other half, you surprised the hell out of me!

So this is what I'm thinking, I would love it if I could do a monthly thrift exchange with three friends. I thrift shop about 4 times a week in search of items to sell in my mall space and because Im always bringing home a wide variety of kiddo clothing and kitschy home goods I figured Id share the wealth! For instance I am always finding boots that aren't my size and vintage girl clothes that are too small for my nieces so I just end up selling them which is great but would be even greater to have a particular person in mind while shopping next time. And really how many damn owls can I hoard all to myself? I think that this will be a really fun way to make special packages to my blog friends and get a little something sweet in return!

Heres the plan, We exchange addresses and our children's sizes and sometime in March we will send our gifts to one another randomly. Amount of items and price is totally up to each individual person but it just has to come from a second hand store or a yard/estate sale. I'm totally excited about this and I hope you play along!

Monday Mornings

Steve's family took off today to head back to Idaho. It was a lovely visit and really special to see them with their first grandbaby. Also let me just say having four extra hands around the house to love up and hold baby M was delightful! I took a nice long nap both Saturday and Sunday just because and it was magical (even though I had a baby on my chest for one of those naps..still!) I think today I may head out to a few thrift stores I don't usually make it to and I may just have papa watch the babes while I run my errands. Things are certainly getting into a smooth groove around here and we're loving it! Our home is really mellow around winter time and having Miles join our lives has held no exception. The cats are extra lazy and seem to forget about how much they hate each other in agreeance to share the bed at night. Theres talk of having a dog join our family this summer but for now we have our hands full with a baby and two stupid cats.

Hey guys! I miss it around here. Lots of sweetness is happening around my home lately. Miles is changing every day and weighs almost 13 pounds and is 24 inches long now! Say what!? Yup, hes a biggie. Its sort of funny because we actually had a hard time getting him back up to his birth weight for the first three weeks. I started obsessing over his eating, not to mention the lactation specialist had filled us in that I have thrush. So because my poor boobies were in pain and were medicating we had to formula feed him half of the time. Once we started formula he gained weight in no time and I could start worrying about the next thing to happen...you know its the truth, that's how our new mommy brains work! If I can brag for a moment and say that Papa and I are so very blessed to have radical child. He is a wonderful sleeper, enjoys the car, LOVES to eat and rarely cries (but totally does fuss, hes not a robot baby!) Hes having a hard time not sleeping on my chest at night so our goal this week is to be repetitious with him laying on his back in my arm nook. Not only is he just too heavy to sleep on me now but its becoming a real pain on my neck and back.

Miles, papa and I are heading to southern California to show off our wee one to friends and family the beginning of March. We cant wait for sunny days and family love! Papa is staying for a few days but babe and I are going for almost two weeks, Hell yes vacation!

For some reason music wasnt a huge part of my life during my pregnancy and its very unlike me. So lately Ive been picking up a few records here and there and am really loving music time at home with M. We dance around the living room and he smiles when I sing terribly off key to him. I cant wait till hes a little tyke and we can sing our favorite songs together! Now ya'll have to know that I am way out of touch with pretty much all new music so our jams usually consist of Thin Lizzy, The Stones, Nina Simone and lots of 70's southern rock. Miles sure doesn't mind.

My mama is here! Hot off the plane from San Diego. This is her first time meeting her grandbaby so we are SO excited around here! Its a short visit but nothing is better then having your mom around even if its for just a few days. Poor Miles has no clue how many thrift shops, antique malls, delicious restaurants and museums we are going to schlep him to.

Look, SNOW! Every time it snows in Portland Im out of town in southern California but Im here now!! It started a few days ago (when the picture was taken) but nothing was sticking and finally tonight we looked out our windows and everything was white and glowing! Steve was laughing at me jumping around the house yelling about it. We took Miles outside all bundled up for a minute but he didn't dig the cold wet flakes falling on his face. Im sure by morning it will all be melted but Im glad that M and I got to experience our first snow in Portland together.

4. I love the color of these Aldo booties. Their really comfortable and were a killer deal.
5. At first I was going to get this book on audio because I heard Tina Fey does a great job narrating it but I settled for the book. Either way its an awesome read!
6. This hat is super soft and looks so sweet on my boys head.
7. I love this anchor sweater from Old Navy. I can't wait for my wee one to where it in a few months.
8. Miles and I both have a good collection of denim jackets going on. You can always find them thrifting and their great for layering.
9. I have a real hankering for owls and this cutie towel for Miles is no exception.
10. My sister got me these Lotta clogs for my birthday and I pretty much wore them non stop through out the end of my pregnancy. Their really comfortable and go with just about anything.

New to us

I wish I had 30 extra minutes a day to just kick back and relax on the computer to google, youtube, blog and dream shop my little heart out! I have so many things I want to post on here about my new life as a mama but my sweet little babe has me all tuckered out. However I am here now! Miles is taking a quick snooze so Ill keep this short.

Holy smokes, I have a son!! It blows my mind to know that I am this sweet boys mother forever... forever! Having Miles in our life is MAGICAL. Steve is a wonderful papa and has taken up diaper changing and swaddling like a true champ. Fatherhood looks damn good on him!

Poop, pee, penis, nipple, boob... Never thought I'd use these words (all of them) so much in one day but I do! Woman who have boys know that changing diapers and not getting peed on takes real skill. We have not mastered this quite yet, but we sure get a good laugh out of it.
Did I mention how much I love my boy?

Happy Holidays friends!

Yesterday Miles right eye started looking pretty irritated and by night his eye was fully shut with scary looking goop. Needless to say I got no sleep worrying about our boo. This morning his eye was in even worse shape so I called his pediatrician and she kindly (on Christmas!) met me at her office to look at his face. She then instructed us to head to the children's emergency room which we did. To make a long story short they gave Miles antibiotics and took a culture to find out more. Im sure it is just a normal infection but holy smokes, this mama sure worried her ass off!

We got home a few hours ago and finally had breakfast and opened gifts. Now we are tuckered out with full bellys and thankful hearts!

Miles is AMAZING! Really, hes the loveliest babe and I am the luckiest mama. I cant stop staring at his beautiful self thinking how incredible it is that Steve and I made this wonderful boy! Not to mention how freaking bizarre it feels not to be pregnant anymore.

Four months ago, wow!

I was going through photos today from the past nine months and its so remarkable to see how much my stomach has grown. Miles due date is tomorrow and it blows my mind to think soon he will be out of my belly and into my arms. The anticipation is driving Steve and I bonkers! We keep trying to guess what he looks like. We predict that he has ginger hair, a beard and glasses. Fingers crossed!

So...Still pregnant over here! Hey!

My body has been really achy the past few days so Ive been hanging around the house glued to a heating pad and netflix. But today I got to break out for a few hours and do a little thrifting. I've been going a little stir crazy not being able to do my normal picking and it was high time I added new things to my antique mall space and swoop up a few items for Miles along the way.
And I must add a HUGE congratulations to my sweet friend Carli and her husband who had their baby boy tonight! Hell yes Carli girl!

The Truth

Today was one of those extra difficult, highly sensitive days. Damn! Thankfully taking a shower and listening to good records finally helped subdued my negative sassy pants. I have five DAYS until my due date and am having an exceptionally hard time dealing with even one more day of pregnancy. Very very soon I will be receiving the most spectacular gift I could ever ask for and my heart is literally swollen with excitement and love at just the mere thought of my son BUT In my last efforts of selfishness I want to get a couple not so fun truths off my chest.

Today I woke up and noticed a few (small) stretchmarks on my stomach and just about died! I have been blessed to stay absolutely stretch mark free for 9 months until this very moment. Ok Ok, Really no biggie but why right now? No!
My hair is killing me! Since I have years of color damage, I try to take the best care of my hair and its behavior. However since becoming pregnant my poor locks have become unpleasantly oily and temperamental. Its driving me crazy! And now I'm starting to get a small area of dandruff on my crown. Awesome!
I feel useless. My stomach is so large, I can barely move without causing discomfort. Getting in and out of the car is difficult, sitting on the floor is impossible, walking (waddling) is exhausting and most of the time impossible due to back labor... God, the list goes on! Oh and picking things off the ground is overrated. Steve comes home to pens, bobby pins, makeup and whatever else my slippery mitts cant hold on to sprawled through out the house for him to pick up. Even when shopping Ive learned to just quietly walk away from any fallen items. Useless!
I CANT WAIT to wear normal clothes again. I am so excited!! I only fit comfortably in one pair of black leggings, a few black tops and a black slip dress. I cant wait to introduce blouses, jeans and amazing shoes back into my life!

The list goes on but I better stop here.

I'm just having a difficult last stretch of pregnancy and lord knows I am not alone. I just need to remind myself daily that Miles is so so close to being here and that I am extremely thankful to have such a sweet man on my side with bountiful amounts of love and encouragement for the days when I'm lacking my own.

Hi, Ive been absent the past few days. Since Thursday its been mama and me time! It is ALWAYS lovely having her visit Portland. We were hoping Miles would make his grand appearance this weekend while his nannie was here but no! Stubborn boy. Steve and I went to the hospital on Friday night hoping it was time but false labor sent us home. I was having a really hard time with the contraction pains in my back and the midwife on call was starting to freak me out about the amniotic fluids perhaps leaking so in we went with our hospital bags in tow thinking it was the big day. Alas after 5 hours of monitoring contractions and his heartbeat and tests and walking... we were sent home. Boo! But the upside was that Mom and I were able to have the whole weekend together which was in itself really special considering its the last time ill be with her before I'm a momma myself.

Hurry up Miles!

Ultrasound appointment today was a success! She said that his amniotic fluid is in fact a little bit low but nothing to be alarmed about. She took extensive measurements and she estimated his weight right now at almost 7 pounds. Good boy! What great news to a mommas ears!

This photo of my mom makes me laugh. I don't know what the heck is actually taking place but I think shes pretty damn cute!

And the most exciting news is that she is going to be visiting us in just a few days! She was scheduled to see us last month but ended up getting really ill with bronchitis. SO I have been super anxious for her arrival for weeks now! Since neither her nor I have our usually energy we will probably end up at a few thrift stores but mostly lots of home time together. And fingers crossed that baby M arrives while his nonnie is here! Oh, how exciting that would be!

My sweet man! He has been such a dream and I can't imagine going through this pregnancy with out him. I am so thankful for his unconditional love, support and the gift of our son! Cheers to many many years of friendship and love!

I am officially on maternity leave (!!!) and have the fine luxury of doing little to nothing except sitting on my yoga ball, taking naps and making jewelry. I have been having really unpleasant Braxton Hicks contractions the last few weeks so being able to stay home and relax has been great. Steve and I met with Miles pediatrician today and she is WONDERFUL! We are really excited to have her look after our boo's health. I also went to my weekly check up with my midwife, Holly, and she said things are looking great but his amniotic fluid looked a bit low. She said it could be a number of things that are not to worry about but just in case she scheduled another ultrasound for tomorrow morning. Holly said that if in fact it is low that I may have to be induced. Ehhh, damn, damn, damn! But Miles is looking and sounding healthy and that he is most certainly going to be a big boy. Phhhew! Ill have more to tell on this subject tomorrow.

Christmas tree is up and gift shopping is almost finished! Im not normally crazy with being this organized about the holidays however this year with a tiny new born in my life, I'm not so sure how easy running errands are going to be. Our tree is darling and we can usually find one of the cats napping under it during the day. So far no stray ornaments found around the house. Impressive, cats!

I'm so excited to have my body back soon! My stomach is so uncomfortably massive that thinking about having to carry my little boo around for three more weeks makes me want to cry. I keep waking up in the middle of the night nervous that my water is going to break. Silly! But I cant help but feel anxious that baby M will be here any day and at any time. Its just wild to wrap my head around it!

So for today's Mama Monday I wanted to show you this photo of my darling mother at 28 years old. Did you happen to see that bird on her arm? This may look bizarre but if you were to know this woman at all, you would definitely say that this is absolutely normal of her. My mom has always had an interest and love for birds so naturally our home had aviary's with large macaws and other bizarre birds making the neighbors (and us) insane from the noise. She extended her interest to study wild birds at UCLA and at one point was an importer of exotic birds to the Los Anegels Zoo. Having her as my mother has been extraordinary!

Growing up our house was filled with cats and dogs running around and not to exclude the lizards, tortoises, rats, German hamsters, angora rabbits, birds, ducks, chickens and a peacock that one time... The animals only enhanced the unique childhood my sister and I had. My mom had a really magical way of making things special and memorable for us kids. Even now, although she has downsized dramatically, I receive text messages from her exclaiming the new animals she brought home. Recently there was a message about the four baby white button quails she got from a bird show and last week she sent me a photo of a rescued Chihuahua she is going to keep "temporally" along with another photo of a sweet baby tortoise she was gifted. I think what is funniest about all of this is that after all of the exposure to so many different pets growing up, my sister and I have chosen to only own cats!

Steve and I can't wait for Miles to meet his grandma! I'm so excited to hear about all of the kooky adventures hes going to have at nannie's house.

Today on Fresh Air with Terry Gross on NPR, I was listening to a short story about Woody Allen's upcoming documentary on PBS American Masters about his life and career.

Well, anyways it got me thinking about how much funny men rule! These gentlemen have been wooing our hearts for years with their incredible wit, timing and charm.

Steve doesn't get it but I think you either love him and get his dry comic brilliance or he annoys the hell out of you. His movies are charming and his acting is awkward but that is what makes a film trademarked with his uncanny style.

David Sedaris is a stitch! Seriously such a great writer. My mom and I listened to 'When You Are Engulfed In Flames' and laughed our asses off together, Plus hearing his sweet squirrel-y voice narrate it made it even better! Plus his sister Amy Sedaris is a knockout. If you haven't checked out her craft books yet, I highly suggest you do!

Ohhh Baby Blackbird showcased their sponsor Little Vida this morning. Very cute boys and girls clothing but I fell in looove with this ridiculously adorable Stella McCartney jacket! I knew that Ms.McCartney had a clothing line but hadn't stumbled across her children's line till today. So Im making a plan and trying my hardest to stick with it. Since Ive made the choice to cut back dramatically at work Im going to actually enjoy my time off. Instead of filling every day with errands and appointments till im absolutely pooped and cranky, Im going to really try and stay home more and work on jewelry. Obviously those million errands still need to be done however I am going to just take on a few every other day versus all at once. Im going to relax. Did y'all catch that... RELAX! Going to try at least. And as for today, I will finally wash baby M's clothes, Go through our baby shower gifts, make jewelry (a must!) and hopefully a snooze and a movie in between!
In other news...
Christmas!! Holy smokes, I'm so excited for the holidays this year. My heart may be exceptionally swollen with festive cheer because I know Ill be spending it with my new main squeeze, a handsome little fella named Miles! Ive promised Steve that Ill wait till after Thanksgiving to put our tree up but that hasn't stopped me from sneaking in a few of my favorite classic Christmas albums. Wow, Am I really this nerdy? I can't help but feel all fuzzy and nostalgic of my childhood while listening to Nat King Cole, Dean Martin and Ella Fitzgerald. Gifts this year are going to very slim to nada so I thought Id like to (if time permitted) hand make cards or ornaments for Steve, my parents, sister and kiddos.

I went to see Holly my midwife today and she said that baby M has dropped! Hell yes! The other night I was dealing with really bizarre pelvic pains and I read a few sites that said that it could be the baby "dropping." One step closer to baby time! Phhhew! Anyways Holly said hes measuring big but healthy and that from now till delivery Ill be having OB visits every week. We can not wait to see his sweet face!!

Its 4:46 AM and Steve and I are both under layers of blankets laying on the couch. Hes watching a war documentary and I'm surfing about the internet. Leaving the bedroom obviously interrupted the cats sleep so now they are piled on the couch with us. We both woke up around 3 and realized we were both suffering from an over active mind that wouldn't let us sleep.
Today was an exceptionally difficult day for me. I'm still working at the restaurant but am down to only a few day shifts but unfortunately I came to the realization that working at all is just far too difficult for me this far along in my pregnancy. Usually I take breaks when working to relieve my body and I have plenty of time for nourishment but today there was no chance for either. The restaurant was packed to the point that I was serving 7 to 8 tables at a time all day. I was making mistakes on orders and soon became short and irritable with costumers. My body was pushed too hard. My stomach was extremely uncomfortable and twice today I had to stop and compose myself from standing there in tears. At this point in my pregnancy I want to not work. I want to be able to relax and not push my body or mind too hard. Unfortunately Im letting money rule the inevitable. Steve has had a dramatic loss in work in the past few months and construction wont pick up much during the winter season. We foolishly dont have any money squirreled away for when Im not working and now we are going to deal with the real reality of my loss of income. This issue has put a heavy amount of stress on us as a couple. The weight of change, pressure and finances is so overwhelming at times that we lose focus of eachother. I know I need to give him more strength and support versus the constant heat and intensity I lay on him. At nearly 40 years old he is having to make huge life changes and responsibilities and for a life long bachelor, he is finding that being the head of the family is a bigger task then anticipated. He is truly trying and I need to remind myself that no matter what he will always find a way to provide for us. I called my mom today after leaving work and unraveled myself to her. I uncontrollably cried and explained how difficult it is for me to work and like a good mother, in the midst of her birthday dinner, she listened and simply told me no matter what I needed to stop working for the sake of my baby and health and that money is not worth either. In mere weeks we are going to be this little boys momma and papa and it will be the most gratifying and beautiful thing we could experience together. We have a beautiful home and healthy bodies and best of all we have one another. Miles is arriving soon regardless of how prepared we feel. Plain and Simple. I ultimately must let go of our financial burdens and instead enjoy the extra quiet time we have together in our home.

Hi, Hello! I've been a little slow on getting in the groove of updating. I think about things all day that I'd like to write and then by the time I get home Im too tired to collect those thoughts or they've slipped my mind BUT Im here now. The last few days Ive been working on new earring designs for the holidays. Very soon Midnight Riders will be sold at Branch and Birdie here in Portland. This store is amazing for adults and children and Im really excited to have my jewelry be apart of this shop.

The past few weeks I haven't quite had the energy nor enthusiasm to do my weekly picking at thrift stores and estate sales however I did find these sweet treasures a while back that are too special not to share! I have been on the hunt for an attractive but large pitcher for watering my plants and couldn't be more pleased with the price, size and southwestern print of this beauty! OH and did you happen to check out that crazy cute anchor get up for Miles? Adorable!

I've been too tired to write anything the last few days. I've been too tired to make jewelry (even though I really really need to be!)... I feel as if theres always something I need to be doing or some errand I need to be running. and I'm pretty sure it's kicking my ass!

My Birthday was really lovely. Steve and I had the day off together so we took advantage and did very little but pile around watching movies and snacking on delicious food.

George, our ginger cat, had a cold last week and gave it to Willow, our older girl. Shes sneezing and sniffling and has sad little runny eyes. I was up with her all through the night petting her and touching her belly to make sure she was breathing alright. My emotions are a little wacky lately and in this particular case are making me very sad and heartbroken for my sick cat! Whaaaah!

For Halloween this year I wanted to be something kind of spooky so I chose a skeleton. Not very scary but just a really easy no brainer costume when your as gigantic as me right now. Steve painted the skeleton body on a black shirt I already owned that turned out super rad! I did a trial run on my hair and makeup last night. Teased the heck out of it and added gorgeous orchids for some oomph! I then practiced the skeleton face which was a hell of a lot harder then I thought it would be. But I'm glad I got to play around with it before Halloween.

Hey There! Man, am I real sleepy today. This was my attempt earlier today to run errands but I just got too tuckered out. However I did hear a funny thing while adding things to my antique space. A very animated gentleman was asking about the baby and told me that he has 18 siblings, all boys for the exception of one brave girl! His mother and father were married at the age of 14 and had their first child one year after. He has 80 ish nieces and nephews! SERIOUSLY? He then ended the conversation with "...And this is why I only have a dog!" This man was great! Can you even imagine having a family that gigantic? Let alone 19 children! Ill just stick with this one little boy for a while and be happy as a clam!

While geeking out on Refinery29 I came across this pregnant babe! Her look is super easy and not over styled but still looks polished. And to top it off her hair looks great! Hmm, do I want bangs again?

On a side note, I am feeling really REALLY pregnant these days. I'm in my eighth month so this definitely explains why. But man does my body feel hellishly uncomfortable! Achy feet, headaches, sore back, forgetful brain, oh and the full bladder all the time that's not really full... AND a very over zealous kicking baby inside me! But alas only 7 more weeks and then Ill be holding my boo knowing it was all worth it!

So call me crazy or just pregnant but all summer long I was pining for fall weather. Living here in Portland, we learn to savor those mere few months of warmth but all I really wanted to do was layer on the clothes and emerge myself in Autumn. So far Ive successfully worn boots, wraps, sweaters and jackets almost everyday for the past month! This cold weather is the perfect way to spend my last few months of pregnancy! Warm drinks, tasty treats, holidays and cuddles..Hell yes!

Since moving into our house almost 7 months ago, Ive worked really hard on making it a special haven for us. I'm a thrifter and a picker so naturally filling our home with things that Steve and I have collected over the years was exciting! Our home is colorful and filled to the brim with eclectic knick knacks and tokens that remind us of people we love and places we've visited.

I came across this darling house on Design Sponge months back. I immediately fell in love with how warm and lived in this home feels. The colors and small collections make me so happy!

Lately Steve and I have been really stumped on Miles' middle name. We have tossed around a hundred traditional and bizarre names and nothing has really stuck for the both of us. I sort of fancy the two middle names idea so this was an even a bigger challenge to have to agree on two more names. After much discussion (and convincing) we decided to go with Waylon Wolf! I really really love it and Steve seems to like it too. So for now I think we are sticking with Miles Waylon Wolf...
