Hey Boise!

Well, I should be asleep but as usual mom is finishing up packing and preparing the house for a much need getaway to Boise Idaho to visit family and friends. We are so excited to show off this kiddo to our friends who haven't met him yet and to get lots of squeezes in from grandpa and grandma (Steve's folks). I'm not going to lie, I'm pretty pumped about the mini van we rented so that Miles can watch a few flicks and we can stretch out. I'm such a mom!
Happy weekend everyone!

Miles style

Sometimes you just need a break from running around to hang at the park and eat ice cream, right!? Well, this is what my little pal wore a few days ago when we did just that.
What Miles Wore:
Old Navy skinny jeans (similar)
The last two are a little blurry but he had the best ice cream mustache!

Sewing and stuff

My girlfriend Valerie helped brush me up on my pathetic sewing skills I learned in High School over the weekend. I bought amazing Pendleton fabric last month and have been super eager to use it and now I finally had the chance to have some fun with Miles' clothes. By the way, sewing with a sewing machine is AWESOME! Seriously, why have I been torturing myself with hand sewing everything!? I even got around to making these five minute leggings I've been wanting to do for a while which turned out pretty stinking cute but pretty damn amateur! I'm really excited to learn more about using a machine and I could definitely use the practice on doing a cleaner job but for now I'm having so much fun and am loving the way these patches turned out.

The leggings turned out cute, right?
At first I wasn't too crazy about this Pendleton print but as soon as I put it on his jacket I feel in love.
I wish I would have centered it better but nonetheless it turned out really cool.

Hello sponsor!

Hey pals, I'm so excited about our new blog sponsors this month! One of my favorites is On Foot who makes the cutest baby moccasins in the BEST colors! They are lightweight, easy to put on and definitely comfortable for my boy's wide, chubby feet. I'm sort of a nut for baby moccs so how could I not adore them in such awesome colors!?

Thanks so much Meredith from On Foot for sending over these sweet blue moccs for Miles. We love them!

Weekend scores!

Between the rainy weather and Steve working all weekend, Miles and I took the opportunity to venture out of town to some of our favorite thrift spots and I think we did pretty awesome!

In LOVE with this toddler jacket for Miles next year!
So happy with the color and price of these Converse. Miles is a lucky kid!
Really cool 1980's Fisher Price Discovery Map that shows rotating photos of the states capitols, scenery, person, fun fact 1&2!

A very fine house.

You guys, I love this space so much! If we were a kid free home you can bet your ass it would look a lot like this. The thing about having nice pillows and textiles is that peanut butter and juice will likely make their way onto them...so for now I'll just live vicariously through fashion designer Gretchen Jones and her dreamy New York apartment.

Miles right now

My sweet boy was teething something fierce last week. He has four new teeth coming in with high fevers and painful nights. Luckily, this week has been much better for him and he seems to be back to his normal self. I swear I live with a 16 year old kid though. He sleeps till 10ish, gets really moody if woken earlier, gives dirty looks if you tell him no and loves to stay up late. Such a monkey! With the warmer weather we've been having here in Portland it's been lovely letting him play in our backyard while I cook dinner or work on our garden. He's all about hugs and waving right now. LOVES to hug everything and every time I ask him for one he says "Aww"!! My little pal loves his papa too. That's a no brainer but once Steve gets home Miles lights up, grabs his hand and pulls him all over the house to play and they do till dinners ready and it makes me so happy to see them happy. I was looking at old photos tonight of Miles and it really hit me just how much he's grown. His face is maturing, hair is even getting a little longer and he certainly is much taller then he was a few months ago. This kid's a special one!

About damn DIY time

Well, it's been a good few months since I posted a new DIY so I thought it was about damn time I shared this fun makeover on one of Miles' hats! One of the many perks of being in Portland is living near the Pendleton Woolen Mill store where they sell AMAZING Pendleton fabric by the yard. Thank God Miles was throwing a fit because I could have stayed there for hours drooling! Well that and the $60-80 a yard price helped me not be too impulsive. Anyways, I did manage to leave there with a few quarter pieces of beautiful fabric for upcoming projects and one being a fun hat makeover for Miles.
supplies:
fabric of your choice
hat (I got his on sale at H&M $3!)
sewing pins
needle + thread
scissors
1. Line your fabric as perfect as you can to the hat and pin it in place. Be sure to fold half an inch of the fabric under before pinning so that you have a clean line.
2. Because the top of the hat is round you wont be able to sew the fabric down smooth (make sense?) So I had to cut, fold and then sew until it looked right. I know that's vague but once you're to that point you'll know what I mean.
3. Once you're done sewing, take your pins our and your finished!
